The return bus departs from Lucas after the Food Forum at 5:39pm.

Bike

Ballarat Community Health Centre is located about 7km west of the centre of Ballarat.  The Ballarat-Skipton rail trail runs alongside the new Lucas development, about 1km west of the health centre.

  • From the centre of town, simply ride west along Sturt St (access roads along the south side of Sturt St can be used through some busy stretches.)
  • From Wendouree, take the Rail Trail from Wendouree station toward Skipton.
  • From Haddon, Smythes Creek, and other townships to the south-east, take the rail trail toward Ballarat.
  • If arriving by train from Melbourne (or thereabouts), bring your bike onboard and disembark at Wendouree Station, then take the rail trail toward Skipton, or disembark at Ballarat and ride out along Sturt St as above.
  • If travelling by VLine coach to Ballarat, only folding bikes are permitted in the luggage compartment of the coaches.

Ample bike parking is available outside the community health centre – when entering from Lilburne St, look to the left.  Shower facilities are available inside if you have had a long and sweaty ride.

Car

Car parking is available at Ballarat Community Health Centre and the nearby Lucas shopping centre.

If you are interested in carpooling, we have set up a place for people to request or offer rides on Facebook event page.

Accessibility

Mobility: Ballarat Community Health Centre at Lucas is fully accessible to people with mobility impairments. Disabled parking is available directly outside the centre. All activities will take place on the ground floor, and there are no steps.  Disabled toilet facilities are available.

Hearing: Speakers at the opening and closing sessions will use a microphone.  Important information will be displayed on a projector as well as spoken aloud.  Most of the day will be spent in small group discussion sessions where microphones will not be used.

Parenting: Parents are welcome to bring babies to the event. Baby change facilities are available.  A child play space is available nearby (in the waiting room area of the health centre), but no children’s activities are planned. Older children and teens are welcome to attend and take part in the proceedings if they are interested – please purchase a concession ticket.

Food allergies and dietary needs: our Local Lunch will be provided by a local caterer who is experienced in dealing with a variety of dietary needs.  Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free food will be provided by default.  If you have other dietary requests, please let us know at the time of your booking and we will do our best to meet your needs.  You are also welcome to bring your own food, or purchase something from one of the nearby shops at the Lucas shopping centre.
